Hi all,
I've prepared and linked from the SB page http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/sb/sb.htm some new pages with profiles of Tapani Tuomanen:

Finnish AF:

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/sb/tapani/finnish/finnish-number.htm

Since all the time there is new information, it is necessary to add something to the decals. So it was with the set 72008 SB-2 SB-2 M-100 / M-103 for the model ICM. After its release there were pictures showing that the plane left in Borisov with the number 5 has a red fringing of the number and identification stripes on the wings, so another sheet with these designations was added. And they can always be taken from me if you have an early set.

Hi Igor,
this plane, you mean?

Hi Massimo,

yes, this one

I saw the light area in the first photo, but I thought it was some cover. But now I see it on the other wing too, and I see that ends exactly as if it was painted.
What a strange place for a recognition emblem, a white band just behind the exhaust pipes! And how could it go under the wings, just where the nacelle is? Maybe the nacelle itself was white? Or, maybe, it was moved outwards on the lower surface?
Regards
Massimo

Hi all,

Maybe worth to note that this one had 2-blade propellers.

Cheers,

Hi,
yes, that was rare in 1941.

Here is the profile, it has to be updated with the outline on the number, while the bands over the wings aren't visible in this view, but one should say something about them all the same.

I would understand better if the bands were visible from below in any way.

Hi,
a small page on SB in Soviet Far East during the late '30s:
http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/sb/tapani/nomothan/nomothan.htm

and a pair of samples:

Note that the light grey in use around 1937-38 was matt , and created a patchy and non uniform surface. Nothing to do with the AE-9 of 1939-40.
