Hello,

Maybe already asked but the only topic I found about it is this one:
http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/board/index.php?topic=1828.0
but the link to hobbyvista doesn't work...

I've 3 projects regarding the I-16: a Chinese type 5 (between February and May 1938) and two Spanish Republican type 10 (both Summer/Falls 1938).
I found several infos about the cockpit colors of these "little fighters"
- All clear blue/grey (underside color ?)
- All clear blue/grey with black controls
- All clear blue/grey with green controls
- All A14 color with black controls

What is the good option please ?
TIA, regards
Stéph

PS: I painted my Spanish Republican I-15 cockpit in light blue/grey color with black controls...  Roll Eyes

Hi Steph,
I think that you would be interested to see the work of BLG.
He is making a complete collection of I-16s in 1/72.
Some links to french forums:
http://fighters.forumactif.com/t88113p25-polikarpov-i-16-du-proto-au-i-185-pj-amodel-icm-artmodel-1-72#1758915

He translated some of his works into English and published them on Sovietwarplanes

Polikarpov donkey's family. Part 1: the ancester TsKB-12
but now I think that he was discouraged to continue the translation because there was no any encouraging post except for mine.
I suggest to post a PM here to ask him.

About the color of I-16s: I think that the dominant factory color was light grey, but that light blue was likely too, maybe as repainting. The UTI-4 in Finnish museum has light blue insides. The I-17 of 1934/35 has white insides and dark green instrument panel.
The mockups in Spanish museum have medium grey insides, for what I could see.

Please, keep us informed on your works.

Regards
Massimo
