Wow!!!  Shocked I watched about 5 minutes of the Il-2 film - talk about a "walkaround"! Amazing! The items to look for are about halfway down the page (tons of other stuff on it, too - you could spend hours, DAYS, even, on this site!).

But I could not open the other three (La-5, Il-4, Tu-2) - is there a secret? I noticed that the Il-2 film is the only one with "Instr_" in the link, so I tried inserting that, but I still get a "The page cannot be found" error message. Help! As you can guess, I really want to see the La-5 film!

Thanks, Audrius - a great site!

Hah! I found the La-5 film on the following site:
http://community.livejournal.com/ru_il_2/21993.html

Click on:
скачать одним файлом (the first link below the screen shots from the film and the film specs)

The quality of the original film isn't very good, with many parts that are too dark to see much and a lot off streaks in the print, but still worth a look - enjoy!

Here's something for those who didn't want to wait for lengthy downloads - some kind-hearted fellow aviation enthusiasts have posted clips from the "Red Stars" videos and also the complete La-5 and Il-2 instruction films at YouTube! Go here for the "Red Stars" clip on the La-7:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOdASyKz3TU&mode=related&search=

Then in the scroll column headed "Related", immediately to the right of the video screen, you'll see the La-5 film posted in two parts, and also the Il-2 film in two parts, and a Yak-3 clip, among others.

If you hunt around a bit, there are other entertaining items. There's a short posting of a video made by someone sitting in the cockpit of an I-16 from a Spanish aviation museum (?), which might reward a sharp-eyed "Rata" buff with a few details (it's a bit odd - it's like, "This is what it would look like from the cockpit to be flying an I-16, if you were flying around inside a hangar") and also an outdoor "walkaround" (in the truest sense of the word - whoever shot the video walked in a big circle around it) of the same aircraft. Just be careful not to mistake the many Il-2 simulation postings for the real thing - there are some black-and-white gun camera footage simulations of aircraft being shot down which look quite realistic!
