Hi all,
just to say that I'm not disappeared: I'm working on a new page on I-16 with the help of Bernard and Daniele.
At first, it will have commented scale views of all versions.
In the far future (next year?), I'll make color profiles, presumably with the help of Tapani.
Regards

Hi all,
I'm posting the direct link to the page on I-16 Type 29, even if it is not yet linked from the main I-16 page.
Please, have a look and let me know if it can be improved in any way.
http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type29/type29.htm
In particular, I need some help to identify the units and places where the planes were photographed.

Hi all,
I've uploaded two pages on I-16 Type 5:
http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type5/type5early.htm

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type5/type5late.htm

Again, they are not yet linked ffrom the main I-16 page.
Please, let me know any suggestion to improve them.

Regards

Looks good, Massimo! Your research and hard work are much appreciated. I wish we could have new I-16 types 5 and 10 (and 29) kits in 1/72 scale! The resins from Prop&Jet seem to be stalled, but styrene kits would be preferrable anyway. That doesn't mean I wouldn't buy the P&J versions, though!

Hi John,
I agree, a new generation of I-16s would be good. I wonder why Eduard didn't turn into 1/72 its nice Ishaks in 1/48.

typo: Other typical operational I-5s before the war.

"A line including white 50 (type 5) and 96 (type 10) in 1941" - http://ava.org.ru/iap/4gm.htm at my page stated №96 is type 28, am I wrong?

Hi,
thank you for the warning.
N. 96 of the photo below has a pointed spinner, it could be a type 10 or 17. It is not the same 96 of the photo above.

Hi,
looking at your interesting page, I think that some types are misidentified.
Plane 11 is a type 17, the guns are visible both on the photo and the profile.
n.34 is very hidden, but the shape of the blades and the gunsight without rear cushion suggest a type 10. I suppose that 75 is the same type because it is not good to put together planes with different speed.
96 of the last photo could be a type 27 because of the closed right door, apart for this it is indistinguishable from type 28. They are the same planes of a photo above seen from the opposite side, I would put the photos close each other.

Hi,
the plane 22 (first two photos are of the same, I think) is a late Type 24, the ShKAS on the wing is recognizable as the flat-top tank under the wings.

All other ones are Type 29, the shape of the lower fuselage is recognizable. Plane 29 is on doubt, but probably a Type 29 as the other ones.

Excellent photos indeed.
