Hi John,
you're absolutely right, it is definitely a Type 5 M-25V. I had already photos of this on the page of Type 5, but I forgot to delete these on the page of 10. Thank you for the warning.

Hi Daniele,
the report is interesting. You are right, the I-16 was one of the very few types that didn't loose their green uppersurfaces in 1939, differently from the last I-15bis, the most part of I-153s and many other types that were grey or silver in that year. Who knows why...

Hi, two new pages.

Type 17:

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type17/type17.htm

Type 18:

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type18/type18.htm

Besides I've made minor modifications on the already uploaded pages and their drawings.

Hi all,
I've added pages on Type 27 and 28, very similar.

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type27/type27.htm

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type28/type28.htm

Please let me know any suggestion on them.

Hi,
the first plane is a Type 5 with the windshield of an UTI-4. All other I-16s are Type 5.
The UTI-4 is probably with M-25V.

Hi all,
the page on Type 24 is ready and uploaded.
Besides, I've done a major overhauling of the page on I-16.

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/i16.htm

The gallery of built models has its own index, as the versions. I've still to add some minor version as the Type 12 and the UTI-4b and the prototypes TsKB-12.
I've updated the page on links to sites on I-16; if someone has suggestions for further links to add, they are welcome. I've deleted some dead links.
Some days I'll make a page of technical description and details.
For color profiles, I think that we have to wait for some more time.
Probably I'll reduce the page on the painting of the I-16, it is obsolete now because the most part of its contents are in the photo galleries divided into types.

Regards
Massimo

Hi John,
yes, I'm nearly closed at home, but my wife is at work.
I've a lot of time to make this work, if all goes well.
How are things there?

Hi Massimo! Yes, I guessed that you might be stuck at home with lots of time to update the I-16 pages - even bad things can lead to good results! Here in Canada (in the province of Ontario) the provincial government just announced emergency measures yesterday, so now, as well as schools, all restaurants, bars, movie theatres, and so on are closed except for take-out food. Grocery stores and pharmacies remain open. Hospitals and doctors' offices are cancelling all non-emergency appointments. Oops - I was just told that the Walmart department store in Midland, Ont. (about an hour north of here) has closed for an undetermined length of time because an employee tested positive for COVID-19... These are strange times! Keep safe and healthy, and the same to your wife if she's gone out to work!

Massimo! Hold on and thank you for your job! We need you!

Here in Russia is still normal life except the big meeting prohibited and the medics alarmed. Crossborder trips at least not recommnded.

Some comments:

Type 28 (or 27?) of the 168 IAP of the PVO, probably in spring 1942. - 168 IAP was not PVO. It was linear Red amy VVS regiment. Are you sure it's 168 iap?

I-16 type 29 late of 7 IAP, Leningrad front 1941. - You think it is not Haritonov's plane of 158 iap?

http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/type29/29f4.jpg - 123 IAP.

Hi,
thank you very much. The same for you and your site.
I've updated the main page of the site and, more interesting, I've remade the page on the evolution of painting of I-16 at
http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i16/i16painting/I16painting-short.htm

About covid, it's good to take it as an hazardous thing since before it starts. I've heard and read many silly comments both in Italy and in UK in the recent weeks, and there is still people that acts as it is nothing more than a flu. It will arrive one week before people discovers it, so please start to protect yourself since now.

Hi Vlad,
the attribution of the angular camouflaged I-16 is from M-Hobby 9/2010, article of Timin:
И-16 из состава 178-го ИАП 6-го ИАК ПВО. Са-
молеты окрашены в черно-зеленый камуфляж
и несут звезды в четырех позициях.

Is my translation good?

About the white camouflaged plane: I've still to check where I found that attribution, a lot of things on Type 29 have emerged in the last two months and I have to improve the page.
But, have you reasons to think that the plane was the same n.13 of the famous photo? The reconstructions show it with a white spinner, even if it is not fully sure, another plane of the regiment had a darker spinner and probably depended on the squadron or other factors. Where is it written that the winter camouflaged plane was of Haritonov of 158 IAP?

Regards
Massimo
