The Czech based company Avalon Decals is going to release two decal sheets in 1/48 scale.
A 1/72 version might be printed as well, if enough people will ask them...? Smiley
In case of any questions/inquaries contact them direcly at:
info@avalon-decals.eu

Cheers,
Libor

Thanks for the excellent news, Libor - I immediately sent a message to Avalon Decals, begging them to produce these decals in 1/72 scale, as you suggested! You knew I would, didn't you...  Wink

Cheers!

(the text should be white)

now the next question is where to buy them here in the states?

Hi all,
I agree, that "Za Vaska i Zoru" has to be in white, but as we discussed this in Russia, on originalsor better copy photos is red outline clear visible. On decal sheet it is in white/red outline. The outline is clear visible on better quality photos, we discussed this with people in Russia.
For those in the States, You can buy it directly from avalon, using paypal etc, or contact Hannants in UK, but not earlier then in September...  Wink

1/72 scale ones depends on demand, there are some people, who contacted us.

Hi all,

Libor, thanks for great pics!

Well, I can only add a comment regarding "white 12", "Veselya Rebyata" from 5th GvIAP. Pictures show that this two aircraft (other one was "white 14") were grey-grey cammo, not one-color grey. Also, the inscription on the other side, "From Utesov's Jazz band", appear in different handwriting, but then again, this two aircraft went through several overhauls and it is possible that somebody re-applied this inscription.
In total, if this set appeared some 5 years ago, I would be very happy, but now I already have all of the interesting ones (to me). However, I will buy this set in 72.

Hello from avalon decals again,
as the decals for La-5 were discussed before it went to the printers, we made some minor corrections -
-"Za Vaska i Zhoru" are in white with red outline
- we changed style of inscription "Ot dzaz orkestra L Utesova" - from jazz band of L. Utesov - it was done according photos
- all numbers are double white printed to avoid the fuselage colour leaking through the decal
- mongolskij arat are now for both sides of the plane, we were wrong in this
I think that it is all folks

Now, that is some professional response? Smiley
Thanks Jan! Great work.
And let me repeat myself - one more (sure) vote for 72 scale. I have room for only one of Lagg/La each in 48 scale (and their markings are determined long time ago), but I have a bunch of them in 72 scale.

Cheers!

That's good news, Jan - have you decided if you will also release these decals in 1/72 scale? Thanks!

Seems AML may have decided to try to be first with Czech La-5FN decals, in both 1/72 and 1/48 - go here, then scroll down through the new releases:

Yes, You are right John, also AML released their decals, they took advantage of few days. But telling truth - our limited run is practically sold out as 80% of production was sold by preorders. So, no probs, let us say for avalon. The only one thing is that we did not decide if to release 1/72 scale sheets. One thing is that there will be good decaled new La-5 from AML, second point of view is that there is a lot of KP kits around and new kit is short run in total term meaning and has certain shortages, not only the high price.
We are still thinking about scaling down the decals, let us wait until the end of Sept. 07

Hi Jan! Well, if it helps, please consider this my pre-order for the 1/72 VVS La-5FN decal sheet, if you decide to produce it! Please don't force me to start buying 1/48 kits so I can use your decals! Wink

Having bought the AML 1/72 La-5UTI and attempted to build it, I understand very clearly what you mean when you say, "short run in total term meaning and has certain shortages, not only the high price". You are very polite! I'm still hopeful that the single-seat AML La-5 kits will be easier to build, but I'm well prepared (and quite happy) to build the KP kit, if nothing else appears. But I keep hoping that all the new Lavochkin kits in 1/48 scale will lead to new releases of these aircraft in 1/72!

Once more I'm going to support John Smiley
The more I think, the more I'm sure about ordering this decals in 1/72.
I would like to add just one wish, and I hope it is not to complicated to make it happen? If my count is correct, there are 6 pairs of engine marks "FN" and only one pair for "F". Any chance to squeeze in two more "F" marks? That would be excellent, because I'm missing those marks most.
I believe that production of kits and decal sets like Avalons support each other. More available kits means more decals, but I hope it works other way around as well - adding to the popularity of the kit?

One question (slight OT): As Mastercraft is reissuing old or retooled KoPro kits, and also Polish ZTS Playstik, what happened to KoPro mold for La-5FN and La-7? I know they were not perfect, but I still have about 6 of them and there is plenty of each around (at least on ebay). Anybody had plans to reissue/retool those?

Anyway, I would like to get this decals for those kits, because KoPro's decals all turned yellow and are totally unusable.

Cheers!

I agree completely, and I think Renato's idea of adding some extra "F" engine marks on the 1/72 sheets is excellent! Converting the KP La-5FN to a La-5F would not be difficult.
