Hi Oleg,
this photo collection looks highly interesting, but my connection doesn't visualize the three larger photos of the wreck. They're too large for internet use. Couldn't you post smaller versions, please? An image for internet shouldn't exceed 200 kb. Probably I'll have an ADSL connection within few weeks, but, at present time, I have to deal with a 56k modem.

The small photos of the site that you've linked are interesting, but green paint looks recognizable only on aluminium parts. Steel parts look rusty, but I would like to see larger images to be sure.

Hi,
this is particularly interesting. Black and light green are clearly visible. The brown areas... is it a camo color, or mud only?

Looks more like rust to me... Sorry, can't help with this one - never seen it in the live color...

It could be rust, however the wingrot is by aluminium allow and should not have rust. Have you any way to contact anyone that has seen the real wreck?

Hi,
I've colorized the image. I've supposed that the camo was with three shades.
I can modify the coloring, if good reasons will emerge to think that the camo was different.
What do you think of the image?

I'd say that colors you used are way too bright, too much pink in the right half of the skies, glasing shouldn't be so "greenish", but more clear... Blue-gray spots should be plain gray, i think, green should be closer to olive-drab. That small gray spit at the root of the plane does not seem to be significant enough to be there on purpose - maybe film defect? The boot could be either dark-gray, or dark -green, not brown. Belt should be of the same color as helm, but gloss. Aim mark in front of the cabin should be black. Scarf of the gunner should be plain white, fur on his coat either light brown or gray, may be black, coat itself more of darker color with some brown color (it may be even blue-gray). That's about all i can say now.

Much better. The brown should be a bit more brown, gray - grayer (it appears to have some steel-blue component in it). For some reason i believe that clouds should be white, not pink. From the shadows we can see that it is about 1200-1400 hours. The boot has a white reflection - most likely it was leather, thus - gloss black. You extended the boot to high - the smal quadrat white piece is a map, sticking out of the boot, and the reflection is actually a border of map inside of the boot. With the exception of mentioned above - I'd say work well done! What about two other images?

could you please post original b/w photo again?  Any additional info about the photo:  who, when, where?  What unit?  Who took the photo?  any other photos from the series???

Colorized photo was published last year (2011), but Il-2 colours are questionable
