This series of 4 articles from the now-vanished "Brushfire Wars" site from 2002 can be found again, starting with Part I, here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080112091951/www.brushfirewars.org/aircraft/polikarpov_i-16/polikarpov_i-16_1.htm

Note:
(1) VERY slow downloads
(2) Image links do not work
(3) Some images (like all of the ones in Part 3) are "red X"
(4) I tried to save part 1 as a Word file (it's worked before on other web pages) but for some reason, it didn't work. Still experimenting with that one, when I get time...

Here's the Web Archive "Wayback Machine" site - I wonder if this could be used to access the vanished forum files from the VVS hobbyvista site, or airwarfareforum? Again, more time needed to experiment:

I tried the "Wayback Machine" on the Air Warfare Forum URL. It actually brought up a page of forum links by date of update, which allowed me to open the main page of the forum for a specific date; however, that's as far as you can go. You can't open the subforums, and therefore you can't open any of the threads. Apparently none of this is archived. Oh well... Sad
