I actually have the old KP kit; it's not a bad little kit. I wonder if the IOM-KIT is a reissue of the KP kit - the surface detail, for better or worse looks the same, but the sprue breakdown with the additional parts is different. If it's a reissue or not I didn't realise it had additional parts, such as for the limousine version, the floatplane, and the stretcher-bearing version. I may just go ahead and get this kit - I had been waiting for the ICM kit, but it's not like the U-2/Po-2 is an expensive or large kit in 1/72nd scale. There were certainly enough built to where I think I can find three different paint schemes and configurations for three kits.
Regards,
Jason

I did a bit of researching on this kit and is not KP but a knock of of KP kit with addtional parts and was issued and reissued by many mostly Russian companies. KP company itself was recently ressurected by a Hungarian Expediens Ltd which bought the moulds from KoPro (ex KP) and market them under KP models label. Got one "new" KP U-2 kit recently at competition (with entire boxfull of other KP kits that were 4euros per kit) and it is the same old one with addition of sprue with skies and streacher gondolas and new decals. Acctually they have 3 packings but only one has the additional sprues (P72012). New KP site: http://www.kp-models.com/

Thank you TISO and Walker for the information! One of these days I'll get around to building my Kukuruznik. It's nice to see that on the box of the IOM-KIT they actually have the proper three-colour scheme. Perhaps people are finally realising that the dark brown/green scheme did not exist for VVS aircraft (except perhaps for British Lend-Lease aircraft).

Jason

http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_t_31346_start_20.htmlSome discussion there, but still no firm details. Per the thread, there's a Po-2 model from somebody in an unknown scale on the cover of the May 2011 M-Hobby magazine, but apparently nothing about it in the magazine itself. ICM's web site doesn't help, and no sprue images have been posted anywhere yet, as far as I know. Personally, I'm not terribly pumped about this kit, but if there's slippage in releasing the Po-2, the 1/72 I-153 will probably be delayed too... John

Well what do you know! It certainly appears to be a 1/72nd scale U-2/Po-2 from ICM. I wonder when it will be finding its way to our hobby shops - now that they've gotten this one out of the way maybe they'll have time for the I-153. Thank you for the heads up, TISO!

Hi, I've looked for a list of new releases, but with only partial success. Has anyone found a comprehensive one? Regards Massimo

I think, that this demo model (same as a year ago?) is from a KP kit. Look at the low and thick windscreens, thick struts, landing gear etc. KP was not a bad kit for it's time, almost 40 years ago. I have built three of them during the years modifying one into an S-1. Cheers, AaCee

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I'm sure I read somewhere that ICM used the KP kit on their display; why, I don't understand. That seems dishonest to me. Now watch them do the same thing with the I-153, using the Amodel kit! Hi, I've looked for a list of new releases, but with only partial success. Has anyone found a comprehensive one? Do you mean a general list of all companies, or just ICM? There was a list from Nuremburg, but it didn't include smaller companies who were not represented at the trade show. I would really like to see a future release list from Amodel. John
