Drawing by Tapani Tuomanen

This drawing reproduce a DB-3 red 3(?) captured by Germant at the war outbreak in summer 1941. Unit and place are not known, but a lot of photos of this plane are available, including one color one.

The plane has a complex improvised camouflage over the silver background. It seems that the camo was started with few black bands, then continued with brush strokes of one or two shades of green and some rare black strokes. It seems that few very small dots of light color, perhaps silver, were sprayed on the most dense parts, perhaps to break them.

The tip of the spinners looks dark green. The stars over the wing uppersurfaces look to hve been completely deleted by the camouflage.
