The fuselage of Il-10 was partly made with an armoured steel shell (grey areas), parly made with unarmoured aluminium alloy. Differently than Il-2, the gunner was included in the armoured volume.

The armour protected the engine, tanks, coolers and crew from fire from below and sides, not from above.

Lights

The landing light was on the left wing only.


 
 
 

Left: the tail cone ends with the tail position light, that whas white.

Below: the wing position lights were above and below the wingtips; as usual, the left ones were red, the right ones were blue-green.
