This aircraft was flown by Capt. A. V. Shlopov of 6 IAP, 6 IAK (Fighter Air Corp), IA-PVO (Moscow Air Defense) on winter 1941/42.
A photo of this aircraft reportedly resides in the collection of the PVO Forces Museum at Podolsk, and was never published.

The characteristics are described as:

  • worn white uppersurfaces with light blue undersurfaces;
  • a black arrow , and the slogan "Za Stalina!" ("For Stalin") painted on each (?) side of the fuselage;
  • red spinner, red flashes on the wingtips and the rudder/stabilisator;
  • black 7 number;
  • probably fixed tail wheel (as on most late built MiG-3s during the winter 41/42);
  • underwing gun pods for UB.
