A photo of first lieutnant A.Y.Fedorov taken in winter 1941/42 near
Moscow.
Photo from Batailles Aeriennes
The aircraft is only partially visible, but we can extrapolate what
was its likely look:
Its characteristics are probably:
-
late type, as one can see from the code 5077 on the tail, that identifies
it as the 3077th example built (it starts from 2000);
-
probably with slats and fixed tail wheel, as most examples in winter 1941/42;
-
worn white winter paint on a standard camouflage, with light blue undersurfaces;
-
equipped with radio;
-
large plain red stars on fuselage, tail and lower wing surface;
-
probably armed with rockets as most MiG-3s on Moscow front during this
period;
-
black 2 painted on the stabilizator; traces of a overpainted 2 well visible
on the rudder;
-
probably red code 5077 painted both on stabilizator and rudder;
-
probably white spinner;
-
the propeller blades could be worn white.
