This image represents a MiG-3 of  148 IAP during the battle for Kharkov in 1942; on the photo, 1st. Sqn Commander Capt. M. Nekrasov.
The aircraft is only partially visible on this image, but it shows an unhedited camouflage obtained with a thin green repainting on a white winter base.

Its characteristics seem to be:
  • probably late type, with radio mast, probably with slats;
  • possibly with inert gas device near the left exhaust stacks;
  • white overall (including undercarriage legs and doors), overpainted with a thin coat of green brushed on the upper and side surfaces;
  • Za Rodinu (for the Motherland) slogan, painted probably red on the side (both sides?); where the slogan crossed the red star, characters could be white as on other aircrafts; the surface around the slogan is not repainted green.
All the characteristics of the profile not visible on this photo are hypothized on the base of  other photos of similar aircrafts.
