White 27

This example is shown on a photo whose caption says that this aircraft is of the 7th IAP, 1942, near Leningrad.

The same aircraft is represented in many older profiles as a green-brown camouflage with overpainted black stripes. These profiles were dubious; no wonder, considering of the poor quality of the photo.

Looking at it, we can surely state that:

The camouflage is non-standard; I have highlighted the dark zones using a photo-retouch program, and some structures are recognizable, not too different from those visible on John Weal's profile. I have estimated that the base camouflage should be a standard green-dark green one, because all MiGs were camouflage painted in green/dark green or green/black from the beginning of the war, and this aircraft was surely built after july/august 1941.

A lot of black stripes are visible, in some places clearly, some in shadow. There seems to be present a lighter color which could be grey or sand.

No stars are visible on the usual tail or fuselage position; a blotch with a vague star shape is visible on the rudder, probably it is the only red star visible from the side.

Here is the photo...

...and here is a highlighted version to see the blotches in darker areas.
