Hi,
there are new photos on those planes.
https://zaika70.livejournal.com/75278.html
I think that I have some revisions to do on my drawing of plane 12.

And also this one - http://ava.org.ru/shap/566/il2m-21-mt.jpg
the fin should be white, not grey.

Hi,
Are you sure? It looks only marginally lighter than the red star, even in full sun light. Aren't those photos taken in summer?

But the light part is curved and partially extended on the elevators. It looks a camouflage, it is very strange for an unit marking.
Maybe it is a residual of a winter camouflage made with ordinary white paint? Can't you see the tail of other planes of the same unit?

Yes, the big curved  light part is gray, but the fin is lesser and should be white.

The known photos :
566 shap of 224 shad -
571 shap of 224 shad -

Hi,

I don't see difference of color between the fin and the blotches on the horizontal plans. If the fin is white, other parts of the tail have to.
The plane of the photo below seems identical to the shots above, but the number doesn't seem 21 but 13 or something similar; this similarity is strange, they have even the same (supposed) eagle emblem on the nose.
Other tails... I think to see one on the first shot and on the background of the photo below, they seem light too.
So it seems that some (or all) the planes of the  unit had white (or grey, or light blue) areas appearing as a winter camouflage.

I don't remember for this one. The most part of the units of Il-2s of my site were identified by him.
