It was revealed at a recent toy and hobby expo in Russia that the following will be released in 2022:
Yak-9 - 1/72 - Zvezda
Yak-9 - 1/48 - Zvezda
Yak-9 - 1/32 - ICM

A kit to please everyone's scale preference, if all of them are produced. I expect more details might appear on Scalemodels.ru at some point, but I haven't taken more than a quick look so far, and I probably looked in the wrong subforum. Needless to say, I'm quite glad to see the 1/72 announcement! I'm guessing it will be part of Zvezda's easy-assembly series; if so, it will probably be a Yak-9D, with no chance of other VK-105 variants, but it's very welcome and converting it to a Yak-9T should be possible, depending on how the kit is designed. Who knows - maybe they'll include two fuselages in the kit, like ICM did, long ago.

Maybe this will even inspire other manufacturers to cut themselves a slice of the 1/72 Yak-9 pie!  Cheesy

Hi John,
this is really a good thing. Yak-9 was much neglected. Both firms have a good quality to price ratio.
I agree on your expectations about the offered variants, at least for the next future. Then I hope that fuselages for other variants will be offered in some ways.

Thanx.
It is mentioned here that there are technical problems with the 48 scale but no details

No details posted yet, but here's the Scalemates page for the Zvezda 1/48 Yak-9:
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/zvezda-48xz-yakovlev-yak-9--1376098

And for the 1/72 Yak-9 kit:
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/zvezda-73xx-yakovlev-yak-9--1376095

The "73" part of the kit number is NOT an indication that it's in Zvezda's easy-assembly series - I was wrong about that!   Embarrassed
(The kit could still be easy-build, or it could be the first in a whole series of Yak-9 variants! But probably not...)
