La-5 n.84 By Massimo Tessitori |
|
This image represents La-5 n. 84 of 88 GIAP (Guards Fighter Regiment)
exposed by Germans after its capture.
The aircraft is noteworthy because of the white lightning painted on its tail. |
|
Here we see that the inscription is very fresh, perhaps it was restored
by hand brush.
The number, instead, is heavily worn. |
The camouflage was surely black and green, although the black shade
appear very faded off in the image.
The inscription "Eskadrilya Valeriy Chkalov" on the port is painted white by stencil. The red stars have the standard black outline. |
|
The camo scheme of the fuselage is almost perfectly symmetrical.
On the port, there was surely written an inscription in white: "Ot Kolkhoznikov i kolkhoznits Gorkovskoy oblasti". |
The camo schemes of most known aircraft (40, 60, 66, 84, 99...) look nearly identical, and are compatible with this scheme. |
