White 7, unknown unit (28 IAP?)
|
Left: two photos of plane 'White 7', unknown unit, probably 28 IAP in Lviv, West Ukraine. On the rudder, we see also a patch on the fabric skinning of the rudder, and a damage to the left wing, probably due to a ground attack. The number 7 seems painted by stencil; this suggests that the plane could be of the same unit of the 'White 10' shown below. Note the lack of the radio, not installed on all planes.
Below: the front of plane 7. A darker repair is visible on the leading edge of the right wing. |
White 10, unknown unit (28 IAP?) |
Prewar-style MiG-3 'White 10' captured by Germans; the unit and place are unknown, probably 28 IAP in Lviv, West Ukraine. The detail shows that the number was painted by stencil, apparently as the plane 7 above; so they could be of the same regiment. The plane is lacking of radio mast and equipment, that wasn't installed on all planes. Image from Barbarossa victims, of T.J. Kopanski, ed. Mushrooms |
White 13, unknown unit (28 IAP?) |
Photo of plane 'White 13', unknown unit and place, probably 28 IAP in Lviv, West Ukraine. The number 3 seems to show a cut suggesting the use of a stencil, so the plane could be of the same unit of n.7 and 10 above. Image from Scalemodels.ru |
