This example is shown on a photo whose caption says that this aircraft is of the 7th IAP, 1942, near Leningrad. This image was interpretated in many ways; for a detailed discussion, please see striped 27: tiger or camaleon?

Looking at it, we can state that:

• it is a late type MiG-3, with slats;
• the inert gas pipe for fuel tanks is visible over the left exhaust stacks;
• the sliding canopy is removed;
• the radio and radio mast are absent;
• the tail undercarriage looks to have its doors as usual;
• the spinner is white;
• propeller blades aren't visible, one can guess that they were repainted black;
• the camo looks a non-standard pattern of dark green over AII green, with some black stripes overpainted, perhaps by hand brush;
• the black stripes look extended over the tail red star too.
