Saveli Vasilievich Nosov was born in October 23, 1923. He entered combat operations as a sergeant of 183 iap in May 1943. By May 1945, the Guard Lieutenant S.V. Nosov made 101 sorties, in 31 air battles he personally shot down 15 enemy planes. In May 15, 1946 for courage and military valor shown in battles with enemies, S.V. Nosov was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union.
183 iap was transformed to 150 giap – guard air fighter regiment on July 2, 1944. 150 giap, one of the first unit in the Soviet Air Force, was rearmed with the new Yak-3. The planes of the Sword group had a characteristic distinctive color - the propeller spinner and the front fuselage up to the cockpit were painted red.
