Left above

Plane Black 112 presumably of 149 IAP on Kalinin front, early 1942. http://ava.org.ru/iap/149.htm

The plane is noticeable both for the black number overposed to the tail on the star, both for the shining probably due to the use of glossy nitro paint for the winter camouflage instead of the MK-7 white distemper that was matt.

The characteristics of the aircraft are:

  • long nosed probably with slats;
  • equipped with triple rocket rails;
  • gloss white uppersurfaces;
  • light blue undersurfaces;
  • equipped with radio mast and wires.

Left below: a blurried screenshot of the same plane allows to see something of the wing.

Other screenshots of plane Black 101 (and 121?) of the same. It seems fully similar to the previous one.

The shining is not uniform, probably due to retouches or irregularities in the thickness of the white layer.

Left above:

image of plane Black 16, presumably of the same unit. It was characterized by the black number overposed to the star on the tail and by the shiny looking as the planes above.

Close on the right, another MiG-3 whose surface seems not fully white painted but with shiny small dots, it is unclear if it was a different type of camouflage or what else.

Left below:

an enlarged detail of plane Black 16. The red star is scarcely visible, probably due to reflection on its glossy surface.
