This plane was utilized for transport in 1944. Its finish is silver overall, and bears the stars with white-red outline introduced in 1943, possibly on the tail too.

Note the containers under the wings, apparently a narrow variant of the G-61 mod.1936, usable both for goods and 'passengers' transport, and the skis.

A detail of the pod. This one has a plywood panel to close the rear of the openable front section; it is not clear if this one preserved the frontal glazing seen on other photos. Cit. from K.Lesnikov : Kotelnikov calls the streamlined underwing containers "kaseta Shcherbakova". Sometimes it was called "Model 1934". Two persons could fit in the container, but it was normally used as a cargo space for various loads.

Two details of G-61 mod 1936 pods in a wider version, photographed under the wings of another R-5. They were opeable on their glazed front. The ones on these photos are twice wider than those of Red 20.

Another photo of the same plane, this time with wheels and different loads. It is unclear if something is loaded under the fuselage, behind the landing gear, or under the opposite wing.

All photos from Armada n.22, R-5 and R-Z, of M. Maslov
