Drawing by Tapani Tuomanen

This drawing depicts the prototype of R-Z when undergoing state tests at NII VVS (Scientific Institute of Air Force) in 1935.

The plane looks entirely painted in light grey with red stars. The shock adsorbers covers show some lighter color, while the prop blades seems to be unpainted on their front, with the rear partially painted black.
